Leatherman Crater and Expanse Released

Crater

Leatherman Knives – Exciting New Products

Leatherman Tool Group has introduced two new folding knife lines, the Crater and Expanse.  Each series is made up of three products that have been designed to replace the existing c, e, k and h-series knives with improvements on the existing features and a more familiar look from model to model.

Handles, Weight and Size

The most obvious difference between the incoming and outgoing ranges is the handles and not just for cosmetic reasons.  Jason Carpenter, Product Manager at Leatherman in Portland, Oregon said of the new range “We had great features in our old knives, but the handles were so thick and bulky just to house them.  Our goal was to lighten up and slim down these new knives while keeping the existing functionality. We also wanted to make sure that they could be more easily identified as being a part of a family.”

The new handles on the Crater knives are solid black, 60% glass filled nylon. Expanse knives feature a combination black and silver handle made from 60% glass filled nylon and reinforced with stainless steel. By improving the handle scale/frame design, engineers were able to make them about 30% lighter and slimmer than their original counterparts.

Blades

Both the series feature 2.6 inch blades, (Crater models) and 3.1 inch blades (Expanse models). Crater series blades are cut from 420HC stainless steel and Expanse series from 154CM. Each knife comes with the option of a straight blade or a combination straight/serrated blade. The combination blade is indicated by an “x” in the model name.

Features

Both series have updated features from the original set of knives. Crater and Expanse series 33 models are all locking liner knives with improved Blade Launcher® technology for quick deployment. The 55 models are all lock back knives with thumb stud deployment. Across both series users will find features like bit drivers, fixed screwdrivers, bit storage in the handle and carabiners that fold away in the handle. All the knives feature a removable pocket clip.

The Top 3 Braun Sahvers Reviews

If you like electric shavers, you know how the electric shave can often not live up to expectations. It is difficult to find one that shaves as close as a traditional razor. Unfortunately, if you want to get that super close shave on a traditional razor, you can end up getting a face full of nicks and cuts  Thankfully, Braun comes through again and their top 3 shavers give the closest shave, that will have you throwing that straight blade  in the trash! The Braun Series 7 is far and away the best electric shaver available. It will give you the best shave of any electric shaver that is on the market , and it also gives you the convenience of a self cleaning system that reduces the main drawback  of using  an electric razor. The extremely long charge is a great feature.

Pros

* Charge lasts a long time
*  Self cleaning
*  Shaving is Painfree

Cons
* on the expensive side
* Noisy cleaning system

IF you are looking for a less expensive option, I would recommend the Braun Series 5. This saves you money and you will still get the high quality of shave that only Braun shaves can deliver. The 1190 gives you a comparable shave to the the Series 7 but does not come with all of special features that go on the more expensive models. It is a great if you don’t want to spend the money for one of the more high priced shavers.And remember, all Brauns are guaranteed for 30 days.

Pros of the Braun 1190

* Not as expensive
* Thin foil design provides as good  as a shave as the more expensive models
* Easy cleaning

Cons

* Best if not used  with more than a few days growth
* makes more noise than higher priced models

The Braun Series 3 also provides a great shaving experience at a price that is affordable. Although it is rated below the other two Braun’s, the completion is  stiff and it will still give you a great shave at a great price.

Pros of the Braun Series 3

* Very Affordable
* Provides  a high quality shaving experience

Cons

* Does not have a vibrating head

*battery does not last long
