Do’s And Don’ts For Matching Jeans And Footwear
Choosing footwear to go with jeans can be a bit tricky. Jeans are a classic look for men and can go with just about anything, but you do have to be careful about your choices when it comes to shoes. Not only color, but style matters too when pairing footwear with jeans and, of course, you always want both to go with whatever top you are wearing too. The following are some tips on how to choose footwear that will look perfect with your jeans:
Do not slip on those old gym sneakers with your faded jeans. Though a popular look in the early ’90′s, this is one style that has not made a comeback. Men’s fashion has developed a more refined look, and ratty old sneakers and jeans just are not up to snuff. If you do not want to be considered a shabby dresser, then restrict your gym shoes to the gym.
When it comes to sneakers you want something leather or suede, lace up streets shoes are a classic style good for casual looks but velcro closures are also acceptable. Street style sneakers are just nicer looking than gym style ones and are better for casual outings.
Loafers are another good choice for footwear, they look good with button-down shirts. Because loafers have a more dressy look to them they are good for a variety of events and situations, but since they slip on they are still comfy and casual.
Do not mix your darks and lights. The color of your shoes needs to complement your clothing, not contrast. If you are wearing a pair of dark colored jeans, then pick shoes that are black or dark brown. Lighter colored jeans, like acid wash, should be worn with lighter colored shoes.
In the summertime sandals and flip flops are a great choice for casual footwear. Pairing these with a simple t-shirt makes for a comfortable casual outfit. However, if you wear full-length jeans make sure that the hem is not dragging on the ground, it can fray the edges and just looks sloppy. If your jeans are too long try wearing cropped style jeans with your sandals for a cleaner look.
Boots and jeans are also a good match, whether they are more dressy or more casual. But this is a look more suitable for work environments and may be a bit much for casual social scenarios. Wear a suede, cord or leather jacket and dark or beige suede boots with jeans for a perfect winter look.
